MUSCAT: SalamAir, the low-cost carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, will operate on Friday, its first direct flights between Muscat and the Indonesian city of Medan.

This step marks the carrier's first scheduled service to the Republic of Indonesia and represents a new destination within its continuous plans to expand its network in Southeast Asia.

SalamAir held an official celebration today at the headquarters of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Muscat. The event was attended by a number of senior government officials, aviation sector representatives, tourism sector partners, members of the diplomatic corps and media representatives from both countries.

The new service will commence with two weekly flights on board Airbus A320neo aircraft, providing passengers with a comfortable and economical option for travel between Muscat and Medan.

The new route will contribute to enhancing the growing economic, tourism, and cultural relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Indonesia. It will also provide a direct and convenient travel option at competitive prices for passengers between the two countries. — ONA
